Meet Varun

Varun Varma was an incredible young man whose infectious smile and courageous spirit inspired everyone around him. A talented squash player and dedicated Boy Scout, he faced a relentless four-year battle with Ewing sarcoma with a resilience that never wavered through six surgeries and countless treatments. Varun lived by his own powerful motto, “Don’t ever let fear hold you back,” a legacy that now lives as a permanent quote on the Sunset High School leadership room wall. His commitment to this mission was personal; he even participated in the Sam Day Buddy Run last year, standing in solidarity with the community he loved. Though he passed away on August 24, 2025—just one week after his birthday—his presence continues to be felt by everyone who knew him. Whether he was exploring the outdoors or enjoying quiet moments at home with his beloved dog, Blaze, Varun’s life was a gift of pure joy. We honor him by supporting the research needed to ensure future children can live the long, adventure-filled lives Varun so deeply deserved.
