$75,000 funds The Sam Day Endowed Lectureship in Pediatric Oncology at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital!

The Sam Day Endowed Lectureship in Pediatric Oncology creates an opportunity for providers to learn about leading edge developments in research and the treatment of rare pediatric cancers from world class experts. Though topics will always be relevant to oncology, lectures will benefit a wide range of pediatric and young adult providers, and will stimulate curiosity, collaboration, and innovation among a wide network of professionals.

Cancer research is not complete until it arrives at the bedside of a child in need. Many new advancements and compelling treatment approaches must be delivered to clinicians before they will benefit a young person with cancer. The Sam Day Lectureship creates the time, space, support, and inspiration for our local oncology teams who are already working tirelessly to provide excellent care.

There are so many exciting potential outcomes of this lectureship! As a certified continuing education opportunity, we also hope to inspire medical and research students to consider a career in pediatric oncology. We need them in the lab, and in the clinic.

This Endowed Lectureship is another piece of the complex ecosystem aimed at advancing pediatric cancer research, so more kids can survive and live well.

We sincerely thank the Sam Day Foundation, its board, and their many donors for their incredible generosity. By establishing the Sam Day Endowed Lectureship in Pediatric Oncology, you are making it possible for cutting-edge cancer research to be presented to OHSU faculty. In turn, this endowed lectureship will help to foster collaboration and further research that will benefit many children for years to come.
